My name is Sensei Matt I am the Head Instructor of Karate Jutsu. A little about me, I have been training martial arts for over 45 years. I started training Karate because I was bullied by kids when I was a younger. Martial arts and my teachers changed my life and I started this program to pass on the art and help kids.
My Martial arts training. I have earned the rank of Black Belt in 13 different arts. Daito-Ryu Aiki Jujitsu (3rd Dan), Shotokan (3rd Dan), Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do and other empty hand and weapons arts. I am also a Certified Jane Jitsu Instructor a Woman’s Self Defense System.
Besides my formal Martial Arts training I worked as a bouncer, door security and bartender in NJ and NYC for 15 years. Also the Anti-Hooligan squad during the FIFA World Cup.
A recognized member of the World Combat Association.
I was a competitor when I was younger and was the 1992 & 1993 Tang Soo Do World Champion. I received a Presidential Sports Award for Martial arts in 1996 and won a Man of the Year Award in 2007.
I started teaching Karate to Kids in 1996 at the North Bergen School of Defense for Shihan Jose Garrido. Than Daito-Ryu to Adults for Shihan Garrido in 1997. In 2015 I started Karate Jutsu program in Rahway.
